District 95 – Official Government Statements [March 13, morning]
DENMARK: Closure of public life for 2 weeks
GERMANY: Cancel all not necessary events
SWEDEN/NORWAY: Cancel meetings > 500 attendees
Special allowance for meetings > 100 attendees
The DISTRICT TRIO asks all DANISH and GERMAN and recommends to all SWEDISH and NORWEGIAN Clubs and Areas to CANCEL all in-person Toastmaster events/meetings until further notice. Please use the online options instead.
Division B: Sweden/Norway Please contact your DIvison Director Avnish for further updated information.
We ask you: Please always follow the recommendations of your local authorities.
You and a lot of other officers and members work hard on preparing meetings, contests, events.
And it’s a pity to cancel those on short notice.
But health is the most important asset for us all.
Toastmaster events are valuable but they are not imperative for our life.
The life of each of our fellow and especially senior citizen and members is imperative to us.
Why is it important and indispensable to act on short time now: Read this blogpostLuckily we are living in very resourceful times therefor we’ve got other options:
Let’s meet and compete online instead!
This is also a new opportunity for learning.
Online communication skills will be asked soon to be common knowledge…Resources for Online Meetings:
We will provide the necessary resources (Zoom capacity) for Area and Divisions on District Level.
According to financial and organizational reasons, it’s not possible to provide this for our clubs, too.
We ask our clubs to connect with other clubs (in the same Area) who meet at different times
and share the resources (online tools) and your experience.
Please pay attention to the specific license conditions.
Skills for Online Meetings/Events:
Specific Webinars and Recordings are currently developed and provided.
For more information please join the Facebook Group TM – Online Meeting Practice
As a leader, it’s also the time to take show your own initiative.
Just do, try and share your experiences. We’re all new in finding best practices.
Let’s face this challenge and let’s grow together with our skills on how to meet best.
I’d like to initiate committees for dealing with this coronavirus challenge in the best way.
It’s a leadership role that can also be used for getting HPL credits.
There’s a lot of open questions, e.g sum up and develop best practices for Online Meetings, Online Contests, how to coordinate and share valuable information,
and how to contact bored people and charter a new club by meeting online…
We should look at and find opportunities in this challenging situation.
Please get in contact with me, if you’re interested.
Kind regards from Munich. Freundliche Grüße aus München
District Director (2019/20)
