How to write a good speech?
It is such an honor to welcome our next special guest at our meeting on Monday: Ranjith Venkatesh đ
Last year was my (Evelyn Chalmakoff) first #Toastmasters contest season. I was visiting a lot of contests (clubs, areas, and divisions) and finally, there was the District contest (Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway). I was impressed by all the speakers, especially by this speaker who started to talk about “Miffy” – the favorite toy of his daughter. It was a great speech full of storytelling, emotions, changes of scenes and a great ending – this guy won the contest đ Since then I thought about inviting Ranjith to Dresden – in February this wish comes true and I am so happy that he accepted to join our next meeting online and even give us a small workshop about #speechmaking.
How do I structure and prepare a good speech and present it with #confidence and some #humor? Join our next club meeting and learn it đ #Guests are always welcome đ¤ in person and online.
đ Our Toastmasters club is like a gym, a gym for practice speaking in a safe environment with great like-minded people.
On each evening we have a detailed agenda and a moderator, the Toastmaster of the evening, guiding us through prepared speeches, a table topics section with short unprepared speeches, and the evaluation part. Each speaker receives an evaluation speech as let’s say a special gift: How was the speech perceived, what was good and what could be done better at the next speech? With this feedback, we can improve every single time. During our meetings, we do have special roles: a timer, a filler word counter đ and a grammarian, watching the use of the language or rhetorical devices.
Sounds interesting? Every evening we have limited places for guests to give insights into our wonderful meetings with the great Toastmasters atmosphere. Next Monday is your next chance – offline or online. Just send a message to info@dresdentoastmasters.com to receive all the information to attend our wonderful bunch of people đ
I am really looking forward to seeing you and my dear fellow Toastmasters next Monday đ Evelyn
